Are you having trouble getting out of the house in the morning with the kids?
For some of us leaving the house to take the kids to school
can be very difficult. Some kids cry, they move very slowly, they refuse to get
dressed, mornings can be the worst time. If you are shaking your head saying, “this
is so me,” Here are some ideas to help you get your day started smoothly. We
hope it works for you!
1. The earlier bed time the better. If waking them up is
hard to do, this means they are NOT getting enough sleep (according to Kidshealth.org).
School aged children should sleep on average of 10-12hrs per night.
2. Parents need sleep too! So mom and dad…get some sleep. If
you are sleep deprived it will be even harder in the mornings with the kids.
3. Night time routine is essential for the mornings. So make sure backpacks, lunches and whatever you need for the morning is prepared the night before.
4. Give yourself extra time in the morning before the kids
wake up. Preferably an hour earlier, have your coffee/tea, breakfast and be ready before you have to deal with any
sort of emotional ups or downs.
5. Helping them get dressed and spending time with them in
the morning helps with morning routines.
6. Allow them to have some choices in the mornings, like when
to use the bathroom. Some kids go as soon as they wake, some go after breakfast.
7. Lastly, working together parents and children really help
make the morning stress a little easier.
